Adrian Granda has served as Director of Government Affairs for the City of San Diego since 2020 under the leadership of Mayor Todd Gloria, overseeing a department of seven staff in advocating for the City's strategic legislative initiatives at the federal, state, and regional levels of government. The Department of Government Affairs works collaboratively with the Office of the Mayor, City Council, and City staff to engage elected representatives, agencies, and private and non-profit partners to advance city priorities. Adrian has worked in the Department of Government Affairs since 2018, and also oversees the City's coordination with regional agencies including the County of San Diego, SANDAG, the Airport Authority, County Water Authority, and other regional agencies.
Prior to his service at the City of San Diego, Adrian served as a policy advisor for the County of San Diego from 2016-2018 covering issue areas including economic development, public safety, veterans affairs, land use, and transportation. Adrian also held several previous positions at the City of San Diego from 2012-2016, including Director of Communications, Policy Advisor, Director of Legislative Affairs, and Council Representative.
Adrian Granda has both a bachelor's and master's degree in political science from the California State University, Long Beach, where he focused on international relations, political theory and statistical analysis.
